Star Cruises Superstar Virgo: Day 1 (Manila)

For a couple of weeks, Manila became the home of Star Cruises Superstar Virgo. It offered a 6-day cruise that will travel Manila-Laoag-Kaohsiung (Taiwan)-Hongkong-Manila. I was lucky because they offered a special deal on the first few weeks of their sail. I have been planning to go on a cruise for quite some time now and without second thoughts, I joined my relatives on this almost a week long adventure.

March 24, 2017 (Manila)

We arrived at the Pier around 3:00 PM, just in time to fall in line and have our baggage checked in. There was a long queue as the staff made sure all documents are complete and that room assignments were given along with the access card that we used the entire trip to purchase goods, avail of the tours and enter our rooms. After going through immigration, we were allowed to go inside the ship.

We took a quick tour on the different decks (instead of calling it floor, they call it deck – so if you are in the 7th floor, it’s called Deck 7). The front part of the ship is called Fwd, Mid is the middle part and the back part is called Aft. At first it was confusing but we got used to it after a couple of days.

By 5:30 PM, we attended the passenger’s drill. Guests are required to participate and all services were closed. The safety drill was held at The Promenade, Deck 7. Dinner was served at the Mediterranean Buffet after. We took a quick rest inside our cabin room and went to the Lido Theatre to watch the show for the night: Dance Night Fever. It featured several dances around the world, great performance I must say. It was truly entertaining and there was a lot of audience participation. The cruise director, a Filipino, also welcomed the guests and provided some cruising tips.

After the show, there was a Jackpot Bingo game and Mambo Jambo Night but we opted to take a rest early so that we’ll have enough energy the following day.

Next stop: Laoag
